Outdoor Heating Working Group
Overview: Focused on the policy, technical and market contexts for outdoor infreared heating solutions, this group examines the energy performance, controls and deployment options for outdoor applications (e.g., HORECA and public spaces). The WG provides technical input and evidence to inform policymakers and stakeholders on the efficiency and appropriate use of electric outdoor heating compared with fossil alternatives.
Recent developments:
- Produced an animated explainer video to communicate technical points and recent findings in an accessible format; final voiceover is being finalised for public release.
- Ongoing work to highlight control strategies and operational practices that improve energy efficiency in outdoor installations for hospitality and public-sector use.
Quality Label Working Group
Overview: This group develops and manages EIHA’s quality-labelling framework for infrared heating products. The label is intended to set a transparent, verifiable baseline for product performance and conformity, and to support consistent public communication about testing and certification practices.
Recent developments:
- The EIHA quality label has been launched and is open for applications.

- Requested to join the EU Ecodesign Forum to follow and contribute to discussions under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
Joint Energy Labelling WG – together with EUHA
Overview: This group follows and contributes to the EU energy-labelling process for heating and related products, focusing on proposed changes and regulatory consolidation affecting energy labelling. The WG analyses impact assessments and stakeholder feedback and prepares consolidated input for regulatory consultations.
Recent developments:
- Engaged in coalition letters and stakeholder submissions on the ongoing energy-labelling merger and revision process.
Joint Electrification & Heating & Cooling (EHC) WG — together with EUHA
Overview: This joint group monitors and responds to EU-level policy files related to electrification, grids, and the Heating & Cooling Strategy. Its activities includes tracking consultations and legislative proposals that affect the electricity system, renewable integration and the policy settings that determine energy performance metrics. The group produces coordinated, evidence-based positions to inform policymaking across energy-system and product-policy dossiers.
Recent developments:
- Preparing coordinated responses and position material on electrification-related consultations that influence primary energy factors and the policy context for electric heating.
