Solar-Powered Timber House
When planning their home, the owners aimed to achieve the greatest possible degree of independence. Consequently, they opted for an energy concept featuring a large photovoltaic system, battery storage, infrared heating, and a domestic hot water heat pump.
The roof is oriented in east-west direction. This allows the PV system to generate significant solar power in the mornings and evenings—energy that can be effectively utilized within the household, including for the electric heating system.
The family of four achieves 80 percent self-sufficiency for hot water and around 40 percent for heating. The infrared heaters provide cozy radiant heat throughout the house.
